Regards, Chris Rolko Chris Rolko Oshawa, On. - Hi Philip: Please find enclosed a number of cheques to pay for the monument at St. Marg.-in-the-Pines. Our monument is beautiful. I am so glad it is up, and thank you for your help. I will surely recommend you. I put up your card on the local information bulletin board. Kathleen Birney Scarboro, On. - Mr. Dawson--my family and I were at St. Margaret's Cemetery to see Fred's monument, and are very happy with the final product, and especially the banner and ribbon effect at the top of the monument. The COLLINS font you recommended really stands out and your price was lower than the other companies we went to. We will certainly recommend you to other friends we know, if they are in need. I feel we got a good deal from you,and my family thanks you for your effort in producing a monument we are very proud to show. Note from Philip Dawson-the above letter is nice to receive, and in order to be complimented like this means that I have to keep my focus on every monument I put into any given Cemetery. I consider it an honour to complete a monument for a deceased person in a family. It is the very last thing I can do for the deceased, and for the family as well. I do not take this honour lightly. Mrs. Morgan McGowan Road, Scarborough., On. - Hi Phil, we finally got down to see the gravestone, and all the family liked it. We just missed you by 5 minutes, when you dropped it off to be erected there at Bowmanville Cemetery. It was there for us to see when we went back Sunday, so it must have been finished Friday around 5 PM. The sister of the deceased was very happy in the way it was completed, and the secret flags were personal to our family. Drop in when time permits- I know you are on the go constantly but were are here most of the time I'm not working. John Thompson Oshawa, On. - Mark and the rest of the family were over to Bowmanville to see the two stones. Joan Tax Bowmanville, On. - Dear Philip, My son Mitchell and I had supper tonight at the Swiss Chalet and decided to go out to see the grave at St. Margaret's Cemetery. It’s a beautiful monument. We both just stood back and stared at it. I know Albert would be very proud of it. We took a couple of pictures of it as well. I cannot tell you how much this means to me. I will be going out this Sunday with my cousin to have another look. Mitchell took the cross with him so he can do with that whatever he likes. Thank you so much Philip. I will be calling Pam tomorrow when she gets back from Mexico and I know she will be very pleased. Sincerely Have a great day !! Linda Smith Oshawa, On. - Special information note to the public re local Cemeteries: It has been brought to my attention that some Cemeteries in the local area are telling lot-owners that they must buy from the Cemetery, where their lots are. This is not true, and should be ignored. If you are not sure, or have been high-pressured by a staff member at a local Cemetery, by all means call me at 905-579-1116. I will take care of your concerns in this regard. The fact remains that the Cemeteries have sales staff on commission. I will not stand for a Senior Citizen to be hoodwinked by local cemeteries. Call me for help--there is no charge for my services. I might add that nobody is working for Dawson Monuments on commission. My aim is to keep my price lower than all other sources of granite monuments, and also bronze markers. If you are not sure, call me. After I explain the monument business to you, you are then free to buy wherever you so desire. Philip Dawson <pjdawson@sympatico.ca> Oshawa, On. - Dear Mr. Dawson: Just a short note to thank you for the fine job done on the monument. They had no explanation when I asked them why they were so high in price!! I still am in awe as to your cheque to me when I overpaid the foundation costs to you. I knew then that I had made the right choice. I think of you every time I go to the Cemetery, and thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was nice doing business with you. We are extremely satisfied with how it turned out. Enjoy the rest of the summer. We will definitely recommend you to our friends and family. Sincerely, The Roberts family of Markham. Mrs Daisy Roberts Markham, On. - A word of wisdom--the letter immediately below was from a customer who did not buy her monument at the Cemetery. Many families do everything at once--buy the grave, etc. along with the monument. By shopping around and buying from Dawson Monuments, this lady saved $573.00 on the price of her monument. Everyone should be so smart!!! $573.00 will give you a week's vacation, buy you a TV, etc. Paying more for a monument than necessary is simply wasting your money, and making someone else rich. Some Cemeteries tell the public that the family MUST buy from the Cemetery, and not from an outside source. If someone tells you this, call me at once. This is a breach of the Criminal Code, and will be reported to Police. Philip Dawson Dawson Monuments 905-579-1116 Philip Dawson Oshawa, On. - Philip: I have visited Pine Hills Cemetery and am so very pleased with Frank's monument. It is perfect!. I thank you so very much for your kindness and compassion in April when everything was still so fresh and unbelievable for me and of course later when you were able to complete the installation, you did it so quickly. Thank you again and I will certainly remember you to anyone else I know who may need your services. Sincerely, Georgina MacEachen. Pilkington Mrs. B. Pilkington Markham, On. - Attached is the final payment for the 2 monuments for my Dad and my brother. It was a pleasure dealing with you. Your company did a perfect job on both stones. Thanks again, Philip. Could you send me a receipt showing both paid in full. You can send it to my address that you have on file Thank you, Deborah March. Mrs. D. March Little Britain, On. - Recently, people have been calling me re using the 0% interest payment plan. While most companies charge half down as a deposit, and another company in the York Region wants half down and the second half before delivery to the Cemetery, I find this very unfair to the family involved. All monument companies do not charge the same prices. I have sources for granite that most monument companies do not know of. I make it my business to keep my prices lower than all other companies in the Durham and York Regions. A wise family will compare prices. I have found that in the York Region, my prices are at least $800.00- $1000.00 less than other monument companies supposedly giving the people who go to them a good deal. A good deal is not $1000.00 higher than necessary. When I see a family, I price the monument as if I was buying it myself. If in doubt, call me for advice. You earned the money, why give it to another monument company to add to their bank account? Philip Dawson <pjdawson@sympatico.ca> Oshawa, On. - Mr. Dawson: I am writing to thank you for your kind considerationin the past few months for allowing me to pay on time for my grandmother's stone (Tanya Colley at Groveside Cemetery in Brooklin) in by-weekly payments. It has been a hard go of it for the last while, but things are now looking up for me and my family. You made a sad time better by your allowing me to pay the way I did. I didn't want my mother any more upset with the paying than what she was already. Again I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful compassion for me and my family. The best to you and yours. Sincerely, Vicki G. Note from Philip Dawson: If I can't help somebody in a time of need, I would find another line of work. Our no-interest payment plan has helped many people in the past. Many monument companies and Cemeteries are only interested in getting as much money as possible from the public. Shame on them!!!! Vicki G. Durham Region, On. - Dear Phil:Thanks for your tips on the pillow marker at Erskine Cemetery in Pickering. We will go there and if we need any help with it, I'll call you to come over. You made it pretty clear as to how it should be angled. This is a very little job that has bothered my sister and myself for several years. Thanks for your input; I thought it was a major task for the family, until you explained what needed to be done. I also was impressed that if you do have to come over, there will be no charge to us. Mrs.Pat Bennett Whitby, On. - Dear Mr. Dawson: Thanks for putting the name on the back of the monument. The whole monument looks real good. I already went to see it at the Mount Forest Cemetery. Mount Forest, On. - Dear Mr. Dawson: Thanks for letting me have the photo-tile at the reduced rate. My mother who is now gone wanted my sister's picture on the marker at the Cemetery. Mrs. Pike Courtice, On. - Dear Mr. Dawson: Thanks for your help with my problem at the Cemetery today. You are most professional in your dealings with customers and other business people as well. Dear Mr. Dawson, Please find enclosed the final cheque owing on our monument at Groveside Cemetery. My family and I wish to thank you very much for the unique job well done! Yours truly, Edrie Williston, Whitby, Ontario Special note from Philip Dawson--this monument was done in a dark pink, and had a brick design on front and back. It actually looks like the side of a brick house. The deceased was a brick-layer, among other trades. This can be viewed at Groveside Cemetery. Philip Dawson <pjdawson@sympatico.ca> Oshawa, On.
